I Suppose I Might As Well

I’ve had some time to think.
BLACKEST NIGHT: TITANS #2
Written by J.T. Krul
Art and cover by Ed Benes & Rob Hunter
Variant cover by Brian HaberlinTitan-on-Titan violence! Black Lantern Hawk has his talons set for the female Hawk and Dove! Meanwhile, Red Star faces a frightful family reunion with Black Lanterns Pantha and Wildebeest, and Donna Troy faces her worst possible nightmare! Plus, Black Lantern Terra terrorizes Beast Boy! Continuing the 3-issue miniseries from writer J.T. Krul (JSA CLASSIFIED, Fathom) and superstar artist Ed Benes (JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA)!
I’m cautious. I’m happy Pantha is being used, though not how she got there. But I have some uneasiness.
I worry she’s just going to be the butt of bad, overdone head jokes.
I worry it might end up being a horribly cliched resolution – Red Star learning to let go and leave Pantha and BW to rest (despite, of course, other dead heroes coming back anyways).
I’m hoping they bring back the dead like Pantha after the event is done. They can’t keep Martian Manhunter dead, can they?

Hey.
I’m sorta excited about what will happen, though I’d prefer to Trade Wait and avoid spoilers.
As to anyone coming back, I’ve heard nothing about DC bringing back J’onn, and I don’t think Pantha will be back perminately either. I’ve heard-tell that Didio said that they won’t be bringing back anybody at DC anymore, this event included. Of course, I’ve also heard rumors that Connor will be coming back.
Now, I highly doubt it has anything to do with the WIR factor. Connor has a lot of very vocal fans hanging on from the Young Justice days who were mostly using the insesent whining technique. Tragically, while what fans she has are relatively vocal, there’s not a whole lot of us Pantha Fans.
But look on the bright side! Geoff Johns isn’t writing the issue! Considering his track record with Pantha, he’s shown that he either doesn’t really like her, or doesn’t know what to do with her.
Though take a grain of salt with that last part: I’ve heard that he will be overviewing the tie-ins. I doubt that will do much in terms of characterizations and actions, mostly to make sure that everyone winds up where they need to to be consistant with the main story, and maybe just make sure that motivations will be consistant as well.
Also: I’ve heard that the mian schtick with the Black Lanterns is that they’re basically souless, emotionless bodies animated by the Rings. I think it was KTHunter or DeTroyes that suggested that they’ll be using memories of the person to do… whatever it is they’ll be doing. I think it’s to torture their living loved ones.
STILL! Let us be thankful for what we get.

Hey! Pantha’s gonna be in a TT Tie-In as well! Along with Baby Wildebeest and Phantasm!!!
Good News: Pantha’s head seems to be firmly attached tp her neck.
Bad News: It’s a cover, and thus not an indication of the story.
